Luck 'o the Irish

This weekend's major social venue was attending the Irish Fest on Friday night. From hot eye candy to train wrecks, there was a little bit o' everything as far as attendees go. Some drunken man gave T. and I each enough tickets to get a beer, which was quite nice. (I certainly didn't complain!)

I ate more "fair food" than I should have, but it was all quite tasty, especially washed down with some Harp lager. I met some of T.'s friends for the first time, and apparently got initial approval, which is always a good step. The funniest thing at the festival was one of the bands, which seemed like a mashup of indie rock band with a bagpipe player. Well, maybe it wasn't that funny, but it was an interesting amalgamation of two sounds. We could have done without their injunction for the audience to take off their shirts, which became the band's ode to the shirtless in the crowd. Sadly none of these impromptu strippers, who were happy to twirl their erstwhile garments overhead, were anything exciting to look at.

Afterwards we closed a nearby, cute little Irish bar (I think it was called Cornerstone). Needless to say, T. and I slept in quite late the next day. I didn't do much else Saturday, other than rest and recover.

Sunday I went to a cookout celebrating the christening of my cousin's son. More unhealthy, but delicious, food was involved. The priest attended and showed up -- driving a motorcycle! I gather he is also a big fan of Apple products, and has two or three Apple computers, and I believe an iPod with video. These are not the kinds of interests one expects a priest to have, but it was nice to see a member of the clergy who wasn't stodgy.
