Jase Takes On...

If I had a dollar every time I heard or read the subject phrase, "....that damned Kelly Clarkson song...," I'd have about $5US. Still, there is an underlying truism to that meme, and it's that Kelly Clarkson has gotten good at putting out catchy tunes with great production values. And unlike, say, Britney Spears, I think Kelly can really sing.

So I'd like to link to a couple of Kelly's music videos. First is for Behind These Hazel Eyes, a song with special meaning to me in 2006. It was a primary song during my post-D. struggle, which helped me deal with some of the emotional pain I was feeling, as well as helping me to feel more empowered than I might have otherwise. (Amazing what good music can do.) Recently discovering the music video, I again delved into this song, as well as my memories of the good times with D.. The gloriously decrepit gothic undertones of this video are awesome, as is the moment when a darker Kelly beatifically blesses her innocent counterpart.

The other video is Walk Away, which is particularly amusing to me as a corporate office drone. I think anyone with a job will appreciate this video. It also serves to nod, with tongue-in-cheek, at the subject of this entry: that Kelly has these darned catchy tunes!
